Firefighters rescue teenager after racetrack smash

A TEENAGER was taken to hospital after a crash at a Rotherham race track.

Firefighters from Rotherham and Aston stations responded to a call of people trapped after the two-car collision at Brampton Raceway.

A fire spokeswoman said a man in his late teens was injured. The crews were there for an hour from 3.45pm.

Firefighters were called to a scrapyard in Ickles after a blaze involving titanium turnings.

Staff applied dry sand to the machinery before crews from Rotherham and Darnall arrived at 11am on Saturday.

Firefighters spent about two hours cooling the machinery and the cause was said to be accidental.

A blaze in trees and bushes spread to fascias at a Church Street home, Wath. Firefighters were called at 8.30pm on Sunday and the cause was accidental.

Another accidental fire happened when controlled burning in a steel bin spread to a shed in Alma Road, Moorgate, at 5.30am on Monday.
