Fire crews battle Anston waste plant blaze

Twenty firefighters spent six hours at a blaze in a waste recycling plant today.

Twenty firefighters spent six hours at a blaze in a waste recycling plant today (5).

Crews from Aston Park, Maltby and Rotherham were called to the industrial unit in South Anston, at 7am.

The fire began outside the building, on Crowgate, but had spread inside. Firefighters had to ferry in water because there was no onsite water supply.

A fire service spokesman said: “The cause of the fire is currently unknown, an investigation will be carried out in due course.”
