Fine after 20 skips of rubbish found at business

TWO men and a business have been fined after admitting running a waste site without a permit.

Keith Connelly, of Sheridan Drive, Rotherham, Andrew Hale, of Maltkiln Farm Court, Braithwell, and Multi Waste Management Limited (previously Maltby Waste Management Limited), were brought before magistrates after the Environment Agency found 20 skips of rubbish at their premises.

The waste included furniture, bed frames, a television and garden furniture.

It was later removed by the site owners but each of the defendants was fined £250 with £400 costs.

Magistrates heard residents had hired Multi Waste Management Limited to dispose of their rubbish but were later able to identify items found in skips at the Warwick Road site.

An Environment Agency spokesman said: “Waste crime can have a terrible impact on local communities and the environment.

“I would strongly urge any residents who see waste crime to report the matter to our incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1112.”
