THE JOBS of two award-winning women apprentices could be on the line at Rotherham's housing organisation.

Victoria Dempsey—named as the UK's best female apprentice electrician—and Emma Pryce—one of four finalists in the female plumbing skills category—are among the Rotherham 2010 apprentices facing an uncertain future.

Unions and management have been involved in cost-cuitting discussions after it was revealed that 2010 was losing £55,000 a month.

Apprentice jobs will go in the next few months unless volunteers for redundancy are found elsewhere among the workforce.

Some apprentices have yet to complete their training while others are on six-month contracts. But their jobs are not guaranteed.

2010 has denied the claims and say they are not looking to cut apprentice jobs, although it will depend on what happens with the rest of the staff.

One insider said: "The sword of Damacles is hanging over the apprentices."
