Fatal crash victim named

AN ELDERLY man who died 12 days after being involved in a traffic accident in Thurcroft has been named.

George Joynson (85) of Thurncroft was hit by a car shortly after 9.30am on Thursday, December 29 outside a kebab shop on Green Arbour Road.

Police believe that he began crossing the road from behind a parked vehicle when he was involved in the collision with a red Toyota Auris, which was travelling towards Dinnington.

Mr Joynson—who crossed from the driver's nearside—suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Rotherham Hospital, where he died on January 10.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to ring 101 and quote incident number 193 of December 29, 2011.
