Fan fined after going pitchside at Millers match

Daniel Sinclair, of Bowness Place, Wigan, went onto a prohibited area behind the goal at the New York Stadium during Wigan Athletic’s match against the Millers on March 14.

He admitted entering the area “without lawful authority” and was fined £100 with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

But he was not given a football banning order as Magistrates were satisfied it would not help prevent violence or disorder as Sinclair did not verbally abuse anyone, had no violent intent and had shown remorse.
