Families breezed in to a special open day yesterday to introduce a community to a new wind farm.

Families breezed in to a special open day to introduce a community to the new wind farm in their back yard.

Youngsters had their faces painted and there were demonstrations of the technology behind the three 95 metre tall turbines which stand on green belt land at Loscar Common, near Harthill.

The half-term event was organised by renewable energy firm Cornwall Light and Power, who developed the site early this year.

CLP claim that the three 1.5 megawatt turbines will generate enough power to supply 2,180 homes when the wind blows.
