Factory blaze 'accidental'

A FIRE at a large food factory in the early hours of Tuesday was started accidentally, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

More than 30 firefighters attended Dearne Valley Foods after a fryer blaze spread to the roof shortly after midnight.

Firefighters managed to create a “fire break” to stop the blaze spreading to the firm's offices, and also protected a number of oil tanks and several caravans nearby.

Four engines were still damping down at the scene on Tuesday, finally leaving the scene at 12 noon.
