Exam papers stolen in Rotherham depot raid

TEN pupils’ maths tests were still missing this week after three men were arrested for stealing examination papers.

The completed exams, heading for Edexcel at Hellaby to be marked, were among items taken from Parcelforce’s Parkgate depot.

Most of the primary school papers were recovered in Goole, where three men from Leeds—aged 19, 25 and 30—were arrested.

A Department for Education spokesman said: “The vast majority of the papers have been recovered but maths tests from about ten pupils are still missing. All the recovered pupil scripts will be marked as normal.”

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that there was a break-in at the Parcelforce Depot on Parkgate Business Park when a number of items were stolen.

“South Yorkshire Police are investigating and we would urge anyone with any information to contact them directly.”

A police spokeswoman said the three men had been bailed while the investigation continued after the theft on May 14 at 1.20pm.

Rotherham Borough Council said that none of its schools had been affected.
