Energy companies not honest

I BELIEVE energy companies are not being honest with customers.

1) When they advertise a reduction in energy they may advertise bringing the unit price down but when the bill arrives the daily charges have increased.

2) The daily charges are very disproportional between the lower users, the less well off, and the higher users, the wealthier people. This comes about because the daily charges becomes a higher percentage of the bill for the lower users.

3) Also when the house is unoccupied and the gas may be turned off, for holidays, the householder is still charged the daily rate even though no gas is being used.

4) one company has daily charges 26.25 pence/day for gas and 18.90 pence/day for electric this amounts to £164.80/ year charge without using any energy.

5) Energy companies are the only ones that charge for something before use. You do not go into a shop or a forecourt and pay up front before buying goods or petrol. Why do energy companies get away with it?

6) I believe that MPs should declare this practice illegal and customers should only pay for the units they use. Doing away with daily charges will make the system more transparent

Everyone should challenge the energy ombudsman regarding this anomaly.
