"Emmanuel fits my style," says Warne

DEFENDER Josh Emmanuel has joined Rotherham United — and could hook up with the first team squad at their summer training camp in Austria.

The teenage right-back has signed in on a season-long loan from Ipswich Town and follows clubmate Kieffer Moore, who arrived on the same terms earlier in the week.

The Millers are into the final days of their stay in Austria but manager Paul Warne would like Emmanuel to fly out and work with his new team-mates.

"Josh will give me another option at right-back, which is pretty crucial. He's a powerful, athletic lad and fits my style," Warne told the Advertiser today.

"Hopefully he will be able to join us before the weekend and play a part and that would be ideal because until the whole group are together it is difficult for us to really bang the drum about our objectives for the season. I want everyone to be part of what we're trying to achieve."

Emmanuel (19) becomes the seventh new arrival of the summer.

He joined Ipswich's Academy from West Ham two years ago. He made 17 appearances last term and has had a loan spell at Crawley last season.

A player with potential, he will push Darnell Fisher for the right-back slot.

There's more from boss Paul Warne including his take on the Dexter Blackstock move, in tomorrow's Advertiser.
