Election blog: Look who's made a Twitter of themselves . . .

AS we’ve already pointed out, Labour’s Denis MacShane loves to Tweet regularly on what he’s up to.

But Wittering, sorry, Twittering is full of pitfalls for the unwary . . .

Tory hopefuls Lynda Donaldson (Rother Valley) and Michelle Donelan (Wentworth and Dearne), demonstrated their community spirit by posting this picture of themselves out litter-picking on Lynda’s Twitter stream.

Nice photo, ladies.

As for the Twitter page heading, well we couldn’t possibly comment . . . except to say it made us laugh.

Labour’s Kevin Barron (Rother Valley), meanwhile, says he’s avoiding trouble by steering clear of the whole Tweeting fad.

“I think the internet generally, giving news about the election 24/7 is probably a good thing, but I’m not sure Tweeting is a sensible thing to do,” he told me.

“We lost a candidate in Scotland, saying things on Twitter (Scottish Labour candidate Stuart MacClennan) that he shouldn’t have.

And Mr Barron added: “It spreads the ability of people to pass comment on the campaign, although I don’t think it adds anything to the debate.

“I’d much rather get our and meet people on the streets.”
