Early morning blaze at village barn

FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a blaze involving hay and straw bales at a village barn in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

Crews from four stations attended Little Wood Lane in Thorpe Salvin at about 3.30am.

Some firefighters were still damping down at the scene five hours later and the cause of the incident is not yet known.

Elsewhere, there was a deliberate blaze involving rubbish and old furniture on Glasshouse Lane in Kilnhurst.

Rotherham station attended the incident at about 11.30pm on Wednesday and were at the scene for about 20 minutes.
