Driver killed in head-on crash with lorry

The 61-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after his silver Nissan Almera collided with a white Mercedes HGV shortly before 7pm.

A police spokesman said: “The collision happened close to the junction with Mill Lane.

“Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving prior to the collision.”

The Almera had been travelling towards Sheffield. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 983 of August 21.
