Dog rescued after arson attack

A YORKSHIRE terrier was rescued by firefighters after an arson attack on a Flanderwell home yesterday.

A wheelie bin was set alight and pushed against the wall outside a Silverwood Walk kitchen.

No residents were home at the time and crews from Maltby and Rotherham rescued the dog unharmed.

The firefighters were at the scene for about two hours after the 8.40pm call-out.

There was fire damage in the kitchen and smoke damage elsewhere in the house.

A fire service spokesman confirmed the blaze was deliberate.
