Do you know a health hero?

HEALTH workers and grateful patients are being encouraged to nominate medical staff for awards recognising their heroic efforts.

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust’s Pride of 2011 Staff Awards celebrate people who have gone the extra mile to help and support their colleagues and patients.

Staff and patients have until the end of July to nominate a worker.

Kim Ashall, director of service improvement at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust urged the public to vote.

“I would encourage the public and my fellow colleagues to nominate if they feel that a member of staff has gone above and beyond their normal job role,” he said.

Hospital and community staff do such a fantastic job and I ask people to tell us if they know any staff who’ve gone above and beyond their normal job role.

“It's a great opportunity for us to thank existing and new members of staff who have exceeded what we expect of them in their job and to recognise their exceptional dedication and commitment.”

As well as the five existing categories to which staff and patients can nominate, this year there is a new category, ‘Our Top Leader’.

Other categories include The Patients’ Shining Star, The Patients' Top Team, Our Shining Star, Our Top Team and The Most Accomplished Learner.

Mr Ashall added: “We have lots of different categories people can nominate to and everyone who gets a nomination will receive a special thank you letter, whether they are short listed for the final awards or not.

“It makes such a big difference to staff morale and it’s great to give outstanding people, who go out of their way, the recognition they deserve.
