Detectives release description of Herringthorpe rape suspect

DETECTIVES investigating the rape of a 16-year-old girl have released a description of a man they would to speak to in connection with the incident.

The girl was walking along Badsley Moor Lane between 9.30pm and 10.30pm before walking down a grass verge next to a service road on The Lanes, in the Herringthorpe area, when she was approached by an unknown man. 

Detectives said the man was around 6 ft tall, of a slim build and was wearing a dark hooded top with a small green Nike symbol on the front.

Temporary Det Insp Graham Stead has said: “We would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident, as they may be able to assist with our enquiries.

“Extra patrols and high visibility officers have also been put in place to offer reassurance to the public and the local community.

“Anyone who has any information about the incident, or who may have in the area between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Friday evening is urged to contact us.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 1280 of March 31.
