Detectives investigating alleged rape release CCTV

DETECTIVES investigating reports that a man was raped in Rotherham town centre have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.

Police were called to Moorgate Street at around 12.10am last Thursday, June 22, following a report that an 18-year-old man had been raped.

PC Dawn Murray said the attacker was described as white, between 25 and 30, stocky or muscular and tall, with short brown hair and a short cropped beard.

The victim was in Church Street and High Street before the attack, she said.

PC Murray said officers were keen to speak to the man in the CCTV image as he “may hold vital information”.

She added: “If you are the man pictured, of if you recognise him, please get in touch with us.”

Police can be contacted on 101.

Quote incident number 12 of June 22.
