Defeat hard to take, says Evans

Reduced to ten men for the second half at MK Dons after the dismissal of Michael O'Connor, they battled back from two goals down to level at 2-2 before falling to a super late strike from in-form striker Patrick Bamford, on loan from Chelsea.

O'Connor was sent off for denying Stephen Gleeson a goal-scoring opportunity but Evans insisted there was no contact. He also said it was the latest in a string of big decisions to go against his side.

"It's hard to take. The players were devastated, he said. "We put in a really good performance and were really disappointed with some of things that went against us.

"The fans will have gone home shaking their heads at some of things that went on but that seems to be the way it is if you're Rotherham United in League One.

"We keep saying that on another day the decisions will go for us, but they don't."

Referee Robert Madley ordered Evans to watch the second half from the stand after he shouted at a steward during the interval. The Millers chief insisted no abusive language was used and must now wait to see if the FA take any further action.

He said:  "I went in the tunnel (at half time) and had a sensible word with the referee and a steward came across and put his arm on me. I said 'get your arm off me' and the referee said I shouldn't be shouting in that environment and that's why I had to go upstairs.

"There was no abusive language."

Meanwhile, O'Connor misses tomorrow's home date against Tranmere Rovers as a result of his red card while Lee Frecklington, who set Saturday's comeback in motion with his fifth goal of the season, is also suspended having accumulated five bookings.

The Millers have dropped to tenth in League One but remain just a point off the top six.
