DEARNE VALLEY: Police target nuisance bikers

POLICE seized an off-road motorbike during a one-day operation to tackle nuisance riders in Darfield.

Wombwell Safer Neighbourhood Team targeted land on the Trans Pennine Trail, Little Houghton, Inkerman fields and Broomhill.

They spoke to local residents, walkers and cyclists ahead of the operation on August 7 so they knew how to report biking offences.

One motorbike—seized from the Trans Pennine Trail—will cost the owner £150 to recover plus storage.

PCSO Matt Shaughnessy said: “We will continue to carry out operations like this regularly to catch offenders and emphasise the message that nuisance biking will not be tolerated.”
