Dad charged with daughter's murder

The child’s mother has been accused of perverting the course of justice in connection with the baby’s death.

Mark Lackenby (31) and Gemma Coates (30), both of High Street, Goldthorpe, had their cases committed to Sheffield Crown Court after appearing at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court at the end of last month.

Both are due to attend a plea and case management hearing at Sheffield Crown Court in April and a three-week trial has been fixed for October.

Lackenby is remanded in custody while Coates has been granted unconditional bail.
