Crews attend house fire opposite leisure centre

FIREFIGHTERS put out a house blaze opposite Rotherham Leisure Complex this morning.

Three crews from Rotherham, Doncaster and Parkway stations were called to the blaze, on St Anns Road in Eastwood, at 11.15am.

They used breathing apparatus and hose reels to put out the fire, before clearing smoke with fans and leaving the scene at 1.45pm.

No injuries were reported — the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

An eyewitness reported the windows of the property were broken, “almost as if there had been an explosion”.
