He appeared at Rotherham Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded in custody.

Rotherway and West Bawtry Road were closed by police following the incident.

A police spokeswoman said that the car had skipped over a central reservation before colliding with chevron boards warning motorists of the tight bend.

"The car was severely damaged in the incident and all three men were rushed to Rotherham General Hospital," said the spokeswoman.

"The injuries of one of the men proved fatal."

Rotherway and West Bawtry Road were closed by police following the incident.

A 29-year-old man from Bradford, who was also in the car, escaped with minor injuries.
