Crash man in stable condition

A THREE-car crash has left a man in a critical condition and four other people needing hospital treatment.

The pile-up occurred on the A57 in Todwick, which has recently undergone a £14.7 million overhaul to improve the safety of the road.

The incident on Saturday (14) happened at around 1.30pm when a black BMW three series was travelling along the A57, Worksop Road, from Todwick towards Worksop.

At the same time, a yellow Vauxhall Astra van and a white Vauxhall Astra Estate were travelling on the opposite side of the road towards Todwick.

The three cars collided between Kiveton Lane and Goosecarr Lane.

The 29-year-old driver of the BMW was taken to hospital where he was initially in a life-threatening condition.

Police said his condition on Thursday morning was critical but more stable.

Four other people were also taken to hospital with injuries — a 41-year-old man driving the Astra van and three people in the Astra estate, a 45-year-old man and two passengers, a 46-year-old woman and 14-year-old boy.

Fire crews from Maltby and Mansfield Road road also attended the scene.
