Crags Community School, in Maltby, closed just 15-minutes after pupils arrived last Wednesday (March 1) and children were sent home.

It has been closed since then while investigations were carried out but Donna Sutton, the school’s chairperson of governors, said a report had now been produced on the fault.

She said: “The school will be closed again today (Wednesday) as part of ongoing investigations into the fire protection system.

“A final assessment was carried out at the school yesterday, the results of which were not known to us until later in the evening.

“We want to be able to fully assess any implications from this report before we reopen the school to pupils and staff. However, we are working towards being back open on Thursday, should the results be satisfactory.

“We once again apologise for any inconvenience this closure is causing, but the children's safety is always the priority.”
