Court date for man accused of stabbing murder
THE MAN charged with the murder of stabbing victim Philip Alan Smith is due back in court on April 27.
Gary McKeown (36), of Church Street, Thurnscoe, will appear at Sheffield Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.
Mr Smith, of Stotfold Drive, Thurnscoe, was found injured in Church Street, Thurnscoe, at around 4.30pm on January 28, after a disturbance near the junction with Houghton Road.
He was taken to Barnsley Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
A post-mortem found that he died as a result of being stabbed.
