Councillors reject KFC proposal

COUNCILLORS have rejected proposals for a KFC round the corner from a primary school.

Rotherham Borough Council’s planning board voted nine to one against the fast food application on Canklow Road.

Objectors at Thursday’s Town Hall meeting included the neighbouring Canklow Woods school, NHS Rotherham and Boston Castle ward councillors.

It was thrown out because of potential noise levels and the effect on residential amenity.

Planning board member Cllr Barry Dodson said: “I’m certainly not against takeaways and if it was somewhere else, I would definitely support it.”
