Conservatory damaged as strong winds batter borough

A TREE fell onto a conservatory as gusts of up to 60mph battered the borough.

Rotherham Borough Council said the incident happened at a property on Penny Piece Place, North Anston, at around 12.30pm on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman said it was one of a “handful” of incidents council staff dealt with throughout the day.

The council also received 18 reports of “unsafe trees” which its staff carried out maintenance work on.

Motorists also faced delays on the M1 motorway when a trailer blew over the central reservation.
