Classic car action drives into Magna

Cult film convention Ultra Con will bring Optimus Prime, KITT and the four-wheeled stars of Fast and Furious to the former steelworks on Sunday.

Props from Jurassic Park, Batman Star Wars, Iron Man, Dr Who and much more will be on display, alongside celebrity guests and memorabilia stalls.

A parade of super heroes, villains and sci-fi characters will also take to a series of life-size movie sets.

Organiser Rob Ormondroyd said: “We’re different from other conventions in that we create an immersive sci-fi environment with props, movie sets and iconic cars that feature in our favourite films.

“This makes Ultra Con an unmissable event. It offers a cinematic experience for all the family, cosplayers, comic fans and collectors alike.

“We can’t wait for this year’s event — it’s going to bigger and better than ever.”

Magna has already hosted two huge cosplay conventions and Britain’s first horror fiction festival this year.

Marketing co-ordinator Dan Tupling said: “It’s great to have another convention following on from the success of previous cult events.

“We’re really making a name for ourselves as a great venue to hold conventions.”

“They carry a great atmosphere so we’re always excited when they come to town.”
