Child sex abuse trial: Victim "given lift home by Rotherham councillor"
The man, named by the "victim" only as “Akhtar” — the supposed relative of child sex abuse suspect Arshid Hussain — took her home to avoid police arresting Hussain, she claimed.
The woman, who claims she had a sexual relationship with Hussain from age 14 to 15, made the claim in a police interview, a recording of which was played at Sheffield Crown Court today.

Hide AdShe described getting in a black car, possibly an unmarked police vehicle, with “Akhtar” and another man.
She also referred to a PC Ali, with whom she and Hussain were friendly.
Asked by officers who this Akhtar was, she replied: “He’s the councillor from Rotherham. He’s some kind of relation [to Hussain].”
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said the incident happened just before she started trying to distance herself from Hussain, whom she claims had become violent.

Hide AdShe told officers Hussain never forced her into sex, but that she was underage when she slept with him.
Hussain’s defence team maintain that the girl was 16 when the pair slept together. Hussain denies 29 offences.
The trial continues.
