Child sex abuse trial: Hospital dash for convicted sex offender Arshid Hussain

CHILD sex offender Arshid Hussain was rushed to hospital as guilty verdicts against him were read out.

Hussain was convicted of 23 sex offences at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday, including rape and indecent assault.

But the court heard that an ambulance had been called to his home in Goole, from where he appeared via video link, and he was on his way to Scunthorpe Hospital.

Hussain attended court for only a few days of the trial, despite facing more charges than any other defendant.

His lawyers said this was due to medical complications after he was shot last year.

On his conviction, officers attending his home were told to bring him to court immediately.

But he is now expected to appear on tomorrow, once medics release him from hospital into police custody.
