Child hit by car outside school

A CHILD broke her leg after being hit by a car outside a school.

The 11-year-old girl was in collision with a red Volkswagen Polo outside Winterhill School, High Street, Kimberworth, at around 1.30pm today.

A police spokesman said the youngster was taken to hospital with a compound fracture to her leg.

The driver of the VW Polo, a 62-year-old woman, was not hurt in the collision.

The road was closed for around two hours while the emergency services dealt with the incident.
