The Trail Blazer Allstars have received an offer to the World Cheerleading Championships to compete in Florida in April 2018.

Owner and head coach Gina Williams said: “It is the biggest achievement in a cheerleaders career and hundreds of the best teams from across  the world compete.

“They are all local girls, and unlike other teams who receive a bid to the World Championships, the Trailblazers are girls who all have started from the bottom, most of them having no cheerleading or gymnastics experience and gone on to compete at the highest level in cheerleading.

“Everything they have achieved has been the result of over five years worth of hard work and perseverance.”

A spot at the World Championships would have been well beyond the expectations when just nine members first tried out their moves in a village hall back in 2011.

An Allstars squad took a clutch of trophies at the UK Cheerleading Association’s national finals in 2015 — their first national appearance — and hopes are high of translating that success to the global arena.
