CCTV pics could help fatal collision investigation

TWO pedestrians caught on CCTV are being sought by police who believe they may have information about a fatal collision between a cyclist and a lorry.

Police have released images of the two people, as well as one of a HGV lorry whose driver may be able to help as well, to try and jog memories.

The fatal collision happened on October 2 at 8.50am on Sheffield Road at the junction with Fullerton Road in Rotherham.

The collision was between a green skip wagon and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a 68-year-old man from the Rotherham area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers continue to search for anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the green skip lorry on Fullerton Way or the cyclist on Sheffield Road before the collision.

“The driver of the skip wagon, a 52-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently on police bail.”
