Catcliffe roadworks halted for rush hour

EMERGENCY road repairs at Junction 33 of the M1 in Catcliffe which have been causing major traffic delays have been halted for tonight's rush hour.

A spokesman for Rotherham Council said work had stopped to allow the free flow of traffic tonight and first thing in the morning.

But the work will start again at 9.30am.

The spokesman said the  roadworks were an essential repairs required on the bridge deck, which links the A630 Rotherway with the Sheffield Parkway.

Engineers from Rotherham Borough Council have previously made repairsto keep the road safe.

"It is hoped that the Highways Agency, which is responsible for the bridge surface, will undertake the substantial repairs to the waterproof membrane and the carriageway in the summer, when the weather conditions are more conducive to this type of repair," the spokesman added.
