Cashless pay-as-you-go car parks get go-ahead

A PROPOSAL for cashless pay-as-you-parking in town centre car parks has been approved.

A three-month trial in selected locations will be followed by a review, which could see the scheme extended.

Motorists will have the option of registering their credit or debit card details, meaning they can pay for parking without having to physically put money on the machines.

The old method of payment will still be available and Rotherham Borough Council will review the cashless system in three months.
