Rotherham Organisation for Down's Syndrome also received £400 and the Rotherham Hospice was granted £300.

The money was handed out as part of Yorkshire Building Society's Charity Choice campaign, with staff from the borough's branch nominating the three Rotherham charities.

Emma Wilkinson, manager at the Rotherham branch said: "We have a long history of supporting local good causes and this tradition has been continued.

"We're delighted we've been able to support ten local charities and that three in our local area did so well.

"We look forward to helping further good causes in future."
