Car overturns in bid to avoid collision

A DRIVER suffered a fractured pelvis when his car overturned as he swerved to avoid an approaching vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road.

Police are urging witnesses to come forward following the incident which occurred near to Lidget Lane’s junction with Gaunt Road, Bramley, at midday on Wednesday.

A police spokeswoman said: “It is reported that a blue Ford Focus driven by a 22-year-old man was travelling along Lidget Lane, Bramley, towards Ravenfield.

“Near the junction with Gaunt Road, it is alleged that a red car was travelling in the opposite direction towards the Focus, partially across the central white lines.

“This caused the 22-year-old man to swerve and the Focus has subsequently rolled over.

“It is reported that the driver of the red car failed to stop and left the scene.”

Anyone with witnessed the incident, or the manner of driving of either vehicle, should contact South Yorkshire Police by dialling 101, quoting incident number 417 of November 7.
