Car destroyed by fire on country lane near Wentworth

THIS was the scene near a remote beauty spot this morning after a car was destroyed by fire.

The burned-out Vauxhall Corsa was spotted on Hoober Field Road near Hoober Stand, not far from Wentworth and Brampton-Bierlow at 8.45am.

Neither South Yorkshire Police nor South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze had been reported to them.

The Corsa’s seats had been charred to a metal frame, the entire dashboard had been destroyed and alloy wheels were reduced to pools of metal on the ground (pictured below).

Hoober Field Road and adjoining America Lane form one of the borough’s worst hotspots for fly-tipping, despite signs warning of covert cameras being in place to catch the dumpers.
