CANNABIS plants were found by police investigating a suspected burglary in Mexborough.

Police were called at around 1.55am this morning (Friday) following reports of suspicious activity, suspected to be a burglary, at a property in Byron Road.

A spokeswoman said: “It is believed that persons unknown fled the scene prior to police arrival, but it is reported that damage had been caused to an external door and window.

“Upon searching the property, a number of cannabis plants were discovered and an investigation is ongoing.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 78 of April 21.
