Call for ale festival sponsors

BEER-loving businesses are being asked to help put on northern England’s biggest ale celebration.

Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival surfs back to Magna this summer with a beach party theme.

But organisers need local firms to help make 2015 the biggest and best year for the event so far.

Festival planner Steve Burns said: “This is the largest celebration of real ale anywhere in the North. People flock to it from all over the UK.

“Local businesses, whether large or small, can help to ensure it is as popular as ever.”

Last year more than 12,000 drinkers enjoyed beers, ciders and wines from around the world.

This year’s event will highlight ales from Britain’s coastal counties, as well as offering the best beers of Yorkshire.

It takes place between Thursday, June 11, and Saturday, June 13, having been moved from early March after feedback suggested a summer date would be more popular than the usual spring slot.

“We felt a seaside adventure was a perfect way of marking our new summer dates,” said Steve, “especially as Rotherham is landlocked.”

Businesses can sponsor individual brews or splash their logo on lifesize surfing sheep signs dotted around the venue.

Any company supporting the event will receive free tickets to the ale extravaganza.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Rotherham Hospice, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Weston Park Cancer Hospital and the Magna Educational Trust.

Organisers are also looking for volunteers to help run the festival.
