HIGH tech tool firm Nikken is set to begin a £3 million expansion at Rotherham’s Advanced Manufacturing Park.

The company’s £4 million Innovation Centre Europe building was opened only three years ago but plans to make it bigger have already been passed.

The proposal will increase the total floor space from 818 sq m to almost 1,800.

A spokesman said: “As part of the designated Sheffield City Region enterprise zone the development of this site further supports the economic development and regeneration within the borough.

“This decision by Nikken to develop this site further demonstrates their ongoing commitment to investment in the Advanced Manufacturing Park.”

Nikken Kosakusho Europe Limited — a subsidiary of Nikken Kosakusho Works Limited Japan — also has its headquarters, workshops, sales offices and European distribution centre in Rotherham, at Barbot Hall.
