BUS services through a Maltby housing estate had to be diverted twice after vehicles were attacked by missile-throwing vandals.

First South Yorkshire confirms the decision had been made to divert buses away from Lansbury Avenue and Outgang Lane on the Model Village estate on September 30 and again last Saturday following “acts of vandalism”.

Paul Flanagan, business manager at First, said: “This is not a decision we take lightly and was made in the interests of protecting the safety of our customers and drivers.

“In this instance, objects were thrown directly at the bus, damaging some of the windows, and this was therefore reported to the police.”
