Brampton mum lands Miss British Isles title

BEAUTY queen Laura Caddick has gone one better — well, FIVE places better — in this year’s Miss British Isles contest.

The Brampton Bierlow mum of one has won this year’s competition after coming fifth at her first attempt last year.

The 26-year-old took the title at the Crowne Plaza in Chester on Bank Holiday Monday and now has a year-long modelling contract.

Laura, of Rainborough Court, got down to the final eight but feared she had not been placed as the final five were announced in reverse order.

She said: “I thought I had done worse than last year when I came fifth.

“But now I’ve won I feel ecstatic. I have worked hard for it.

“I felt much more confident this time around.

“But it’s still sinking in.”

Laura, who works behind the bar at the Red Lion in Wath, was supported at the event by husband Gareth, who she said was delighted with her success.

She added: “He is very proud that I have achieved what I wanted to achieve.”

Laura cannot enter any more competitions for the next year but is hoping that modelling opportunities will stem from gaining the Miss British Isles title.

Last year’s competition was Laura’s first beauty pageant but she enjoyed the experience so much that she vowed to try again this year.

Before competing last time, Laura had done make-up for former Miss Great Grimsby finalist Anna Stacey.

She said she hoped winning the contest this time around would shine a positive light on her home town, especially alongside other good news stories such as the Millers getting back into the football Championship.

She said: “It’s something good for little Rotherham.”
