Boy airlifted to hospital after crash

A BOY of 10 was airlifted to hospital after being knocked off his bike by a lorry.

Police appealed for witnesses after the collision in Great Houghton shortly before 8.30am today.

The white HGV had been travelling along Rotherham Road towards Brierley when it collided with the boy near the junction with John Street.

A police spokesman said: “The boy was airlifted to hospital, where he currently remains with suspected serious injuries. The driver of the HGV was not injured.”

Witnesses are urged to call 101 quoting incident 170 of March 21.
