It comes after a series of major emergencies, including terrorist attacks in Manchester and London and the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy in west London.

You can find the St John Ambulance first aid page at www.sja.org.uk/emergencyfirstaid and get details of how to become a volunteer or get training for yourself, you school or your business by visiting www.sja.org.uk or calling 08700 10 49 50.

A spokesman for the charity said: “Following recent incidents in Manchester and London, we’ve seen how vital it is that the public know how to help injured people and save lives.

“That's why we’ve collated clear, expert advice on a web page that’s easy to favourite, bookmark, or add to the home screen on a smartphone.

“Along with our app that’s available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry users, we're making it as simple as possible for anyone to access first aid in an emergency.”
