BMX STARLETS HIT THE HEIGHTS

TWO-WHEELED starlets from Rotherham BMX Club cut a dash at the British Championships—with one youngster in particular taking the eye.
Making his national debut after racing only a handful of regional events over the last six months, Callum Wing rode amazingly well all day at the showpiece in Cheddar to reach the final.
An outstanding start and his speed on the track took him all the way to third place, stunning experienced rivals.
Great things are expected of the 13-year-old as he looks to become a regular on the national circuit.
Thanks to funding from the Rotherham North Area Assembly Devolved Budget for travel, accomodation, entry fees and meals, 12 riders from Winterhill School along with a small number from Wingfield and Maltby high schools took part and made the 400-mile round trip worthwhile with some fantastic results in a field over more than 800 riders.
Rotherham club spokeswoman Carole Foster said: "Because Winterhill School is the first in the country to bring BMX onto its permanent curriculum, many clubs around the country were taking notice of the progress being made here."
