Blue Badge prosecution for Rawmarsh man

A MAN who used his mother's blue badge to park in Rotherham when she was not with him has become the 100th person to be successfully prosecuted by council officials in the town for misusing a blue badge parking badge.

Houman Raki (25), of Warren Avenue, Rawmarsh, was found guilty in his absence of using his mother's blue badge to park his car in a pay-and-display parking bay on Westgate in January.

The case, which was heard before Rotherham Magistrates last Wednesday, was the 100th prosecution since combat of the crime began in the town in 2010.

Raki was fined £220 and ordered to pay £300 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
