Blue badge cheat fined

ILLEGALLY using a blue disabled badge has landed a motorist with a £215 bill as council bosses continued their crackdown on blue badge fraud.

Paul Trevor Hutley (42), of Bushfield Road, Wath, pleaded guilty by letter to displaying his brother’s disabled person's blue badge and parking his vehicle in a designated disabled bay on Norfolk Street in June even though his brother was not present.

Hutley was fined £100 by Rotherham Magistrates and was ordered to pay £100 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

The council’s parking services manager, Martin Beard, said: “This is further evidence that we are achieving increasing success.

“Blue badges are issued to ease the movement of people with disabilities and should not be used as a free parking permit for families and friends.”
