Blitz on bad parking outside schools

POLICE issued 536 advisory notices in one day over unsafe parking outside primary schools across Doncaster.

The operation involved 50 schools and was organised by acting Sgt Paul Setterfield, of Adwick Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Parents were advised of the problems and told that parking on zig zag lines is illegal and dangerous to their children.

Two people were fined for causing an obstruction and two notices were given for the antisocial use of a motor vehicle.

Acting Sgt Setterfield said: “We have listened to the concerns from the community.

“We have conducted high-visibility patrols outside Doncaster schools to show the dangers to the motorists who park indiscriminately.

“We hope people realise the issues they sometimes cause and know that we will act in the future, with council colleagues, to issue tickets to keep school staff, pupils and pedestrians safe.”

Another operation is planned for this month.
